UAL-BENGAL, a unit of UAL Industries Limited, stands as the largest manufacturer of the renowned “KONARK” brand Fibre-Cement Corrugated Sheets, Building Boards, Moulded Goods, and Roofing Accessories in Eastern India. The company’s products are recognized for providing economical and dependable solutions for domestic roofing, industrial structures, and rural housing, catering to the ever-growing demands of the housing and related sectors. The manufacturing facility is strategically located approximately 25 kilometers from Kharagpur on National Highway No. 6, near the Guptamani temple. Established in 1999, the plant is situated in Tungadhowa, a tribal village in Jrorgram Paschim Midnapur District, West Bengal. Since its inception, the facility has expanded its production capacity tenfold.

Today, the plant boasts an impressive installed capacity of 2,50,000 MT per annum, with an annual turnover of approximately ₹249 crores. The company operates three additional manufacturing units: one in Dhenkanal, Odisha, established in 1979; another near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, operating since 2006; and a third unit in Bagnan, West Bengal, which commenced operations in 2012. Directly employing around 492 individuals and indirectly engaging approximately 300 more, UAL-BENGAL prioritizes local employment, with 90% of its workforce drawn from nearby villages. The company has invested a total of ₹104 crores in the plant, allocating ₹2.33 crores specifically for Pollution Control and Environmental Management Plans.
