Nishith Kumar Sinha currently serves as the Head of Statutory Compliance Management and Societies within the Corporate Services Division at Tata Steel. Before joining Tata Steel in 1999, he held positions at BASL, Patratu, and Hindustan Copper Limited, Khetri.

Graduating from NIT Jamshedpur with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990, Nishith also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Quality Management from the Mahindra Institute of Quality in Nasik, a Senior Management Programme at IIM Kolkata, a Diploma in Quality Management from Annamalai University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management from IGNOU.

He is a certified Assessor from the Baldridge Foundation and Tata Business Excellence. Nishith collaborated closely with renowned JUSE TQM consultants, including Dr. Kano and Dr. Y Ando, during Tata Steel’s Deming Application Prize Preparation. He played a pivotal role in creating the Daily Management Workbook for Tata Steel and had the privilege to attend training sessions with Dr. Takashi Nakajo and Dr. Hitoshi Kume during his studies at the Mahindra Institute of Quality, Nasik.

Nishith has made significant contributions to TQM and other improvement methodologies such as Daily Management, Strategy Management, Green Belt Projects, TOC, CCPM, and TPM-JH. He has extensive experience in TBEM assessment and recently conducted a CII Business Excellence Maturity Assessment of Delhi International Airport (operated by GMR).

Actively engaged in professional associations, Nishith is a member of ISQ, ASQ, and the CII TPM Club of India. He has presented case studies on Daily Management at ISQ Conferences and had his article published in the ASQ Century of Quality journal. Nishith also participates in CII TPM Club of India activities, conducting Knowledge Sharing Sessions and serving as a Jury Member for Kaizen Competitions. Currently, he holds the position of Honorary Secretary of the ISQ Jamshedpur Chapter.

In his current role, Nishith facilitates departments in achieving compliance with applicable regulations such as the Factory Act, Motor Vehicle Act, and Boiler regulations. He also represents Tata Steel as the Head of Society in various committees and functions of societies such as the Jamshedpur Eye Hospital, Jamshedpur Cancer Centre, and School of Hope.

Apart from his professional achievements, Nishith is also an accomplished author and poet. His book “Choti si Asha” earned him the “Author of the Year Award 2023” from one of India’s leading publications.
