Mrs. Cerita Daina Mallikarjuna, a compassionate social worker, has dedicated her life to uplifting underprivileged children and creating pathways for their growth and success. As the co-founder of Jeevitha Ashrama, originally established by her mother, Ms. Mary Vijaya, in 2003, she has transformed countless lives. Her work focuses on providing a nurturing environment where children can flourish emotionally, socially, and intellectually, equipping them for brighter futures. Despite the loss of her mother in 2020 and challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Mallikarjuna remained unwavering in her mission.

The pandemic disrupted education, strained finances, and amplified emotional challenges for families. Rising to these obstacles, she implemented innovative solutions such as remote learning initiatives, essential supply distribution in slums, and mental health support programs. Honoring her mother’s legacy, she expanded the organization’s reach, ensuring its continued growth and impact. For over 21 years, Jeevitha Ashrama has been a sanctuary for underprivileged children, offering them a safe and supportive environment. Children under its care attend reputable schools, supported by tuition teachers, coding classes, and access to a library. Emphasizing personalized education, the Ashrama helps children achieve their aspirations. Beyond academics, it provides balanced nutrition, regular healthcare, counseling sessions, and enriching recreational activities like karate, dance, and art & craft.

The Ashrama has impacted over 500 children, fostering their holistic development. Mrs. Mallikarjuna’s leadership extends to designing child-centric programs and creating sustainable strategies for the institute’s growth. She actively engages in fundraising and community outreach, establishing partnerships with NGOs and corporate CSR teams. Her initiatives include sponsoring STEM labs, smart classrooms, and annual trips for children, as well as distributing blankets to government school students during winters and delivering nutritious food to underserved communities. Her dedication has earned her accolades like the Best Caretaker Award (2017), the Varathaman Award (2019), and the Community Empowerment Award (2024). These recognitions highlight her profound impact on child welfare and community development. Beyond her organizational achievements, she mentors and advocates for a culture of care and empowerment within her team and the community. Looking ahead, Mrs. Mallikarjuna envisions expanding Jeevitha Ashrama’s reach to rural areas, establishing eco-friendly campuses, and launching vocational training programs for older children.

Her plans include enhancing STEM and digital literacy, promoting mental health, and introducing holistic programs in sports and arts. To support families, she aims to initiate parental workshops, women’s empowerment projects, and sustainable income-generating initiatives. Strengthening collaborations with NGOs, CSR teams, and global organizations, she aspires to influence child welfare policies and implement community-driven programs. Guided by the belief that “Every child deserves a chance to thrive,” Mrs. Cerita Daina Mallikarjuna continues to inspire through her unwavering commitment to equity and opportunity for all children.
