“Dr. Rajabhau Taksale: A Legacy of Dedication and Service in Healthcare, Education, and Politics”
Dr. Rajabhau Taksale, the esteemed State Vice-President of the Nationalist Congress Party, hails from the humble village of Gadegaon in Wardha district. Born into a hardworking farming family, he navigated his early years alongside five brothers, two sisters, and his mother. Despite the challenges of rural life, he pursued education diligently, walking 14 kilometers daily to attend school in Wardha. His determination paved the way for admission to the MBBS program at Government Medical College, Nagpur. However, financial constraints compelled him to work tirelessly, driving an auto-rickshaw in the evenings and tutoring students to sustain himself.
Driven by a profound commitment to public service in healthcare, he founded ‘Vivekshil Mitra Parivar Sanstha,’ organizing weekly health camps at Pipla Hudkeshwar and launching educational initiatives on health awareness. Recognizing the devastating impact of alcoholism on impoverished families, he established the ‘Jagruti De-addiction Center,’ providing counseling and treatment that earned accolades from the Maharashtra government.
Identifying the critical need for quality education accessible to all, he established St. Paul’s School in 2000 with just 50 students. Over the years, the school has grown significantly, now educating 5000 students across 2.75 acres with extensive facilities including classrooms, buses, a library, playground, and science lab. Under his leadership, the school has achieved exceptional academic results and fosters holistic development through specialized coaching for medical entrance exams and comprehensive student support programs.
Beyond his educational endeavors, he is recognized as a dedicated social leader. Motivated by empathy for the marginalized, he entered politics through the Congress Party in 1991, later serving with the Republican Party of India and the Samajwadi Party before joining the Nationalist Congress Party in 2004. His leadership roles within the party, including District Vice-President for Nagpur Rural and State Vice-President since 2018, underscore his influential position and commitment to public welfare.
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with prominent political figures and been guided by leaders like Sharad Pawar, whose mentorship and support have shaped his political trajectory. His efforts have been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Dalit Mitra Award, Shahu Maharaj Award, and Annabhau Sathe Award, highlighting his significant contributions to society.
His journey is profoundly supported by his wife, Mandatai, who actively engages in school activities and social initiatives alongside raising their accomplished sons, Pratik and Vipin. His philosophy of selfless service and dedication to societal welfare reflects a deep-rooted belief in using politics as a tool for positive change, transcending barriers of caste and religion.
In his own words, he articulates his unwavering commitment to serving humanity, stating, “I have always strived to work selflessly, impartially, and altruistically for society.” His resolute dedication to uplifting the underprivileged and advocating for social justice continues to inspire and define his impactful career in politics and public service.
