Dr. Marin Jose: Pioneering Innovations in Education and e-Learning
Dr. Marin Jose, an esteemed academician hailing from Kerala, is renowned for her innovative contributions to education and her prolific scholarly work. With a career spanning several decades, Dr. Jose has established herself as a passionate educator and a visionary writer, dedicated to shaping the future of education through technology and pedagogical advancements.
Currently serving as an Associate Professor in Education at St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women in Ernakulam, Kerala, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, she specializes in Educational Technology (e-Learning), Special Education, and English Education. Her expertise is underscored by her doctoral research and numerous scholarly publications, including a state-level research project funded by the Centre for Disability Studies, Kerala, on the effectiveness of e-learning for students with reading and writing disorders in English.
Her technical proficiency spans a wide range of tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, InDesign), programming languages like PHP, JavaScript, and Python, as well as statistical tools such as SPSS and R. She has leveraged these skills to present papers, participate in and organize international, national, and state-level conferences, seminars, and workshops, and contribute as a resource person in various educational programs.
Born in 1975 in Muttuchira, Kerala, Dr. Marin Jose pursued her education meticulously, completing her schooling at St. Agnes GHS, Muttuchira, and further studies at Alphonsa College, Pala, KE College, Mannanam, and St. Thomas College, Pala. She earned her B.Ed. from St. Thomas Training College, Pala, M.Ed. from St. Ann’s College, Mangalore, and her Ph.D. in Education with a focus on e-learning from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala.
Her career trajectory includes serving as a UGC-Junior Research Fellow at R.I.E. Mysore and as a Higher Secondary School Teacher (English) at St. George Higher Secondary School, Aruvithura, before assuming her current role at St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women in Ernakulam in 2003.
Beyond academia, she values family deeply. She is the first child of PJ Joseph Pandarakappil and CM Aleyamma and shares her life with her husband, Roy Verumkal Kuruvila, and their children Emmanuel, Joseph, and Annmary.
