“Shri Chandrashekhar C. Chadchan: Champion of English Education and Community Service”
Shri Chandrashekhar C. Chadchan has contributed 31 years of profound experience as an English teacher at Shri Basavesh- war Education Society’s Shri Basavaraj Sec. & Higher Second- ary School, Karajgi, founded by Shri Guddad Basavaraj Mahaswamiji. He started his career in 1992 with an M.A. (Eng.) from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, and a B.Ed. from Dharwad University, Karnataka. For his valuable contribution to the teaching field, he has been awarded many medals and certifi- cates, such as the Ideal Teacher Award by Prahar Teachers Association Solapur on 5th Sept. 2018 and Nirbhaya Pratishtan, Mumbai, the District Level Best Teacher Award on 10th Sept. 2023.
He is the founder member of the Akkalkot Taluka Teachers Asso- ciation, which honoured him with a medal of appreciation. He is also the founder member of Shri Basavaraj Youth Club, Karajgi, and has served as the president of Shri Basavaraj Sports Club. Throughout his career, he has actively participated in various courses and training programs. When the Government of Maharashtra implemented English from the first standard, he worked as the district and state-level resource person for teaching English. Additionally, he attended the National Conference conducted at K.L.E English Medium School, Akkalkot, on 20th and 21st Feb. 2015, as a part of the KLE Centenary Event. Within a few years of his service, he became popular among his students, much like his late father C.M. Chadchan (H.M.), who remained his icon.
His students have excelled in various fields, including medicine, law, engineering, teaching, and science, both within the nation and abroad. He effectively taught prose, poetry, grammar, and writing skills. In the rural areas during that time, coaching classes were not prevalent. Therefore, students from Karajgi and approximately 15 surrounding villag- es were drawn to Shri Basavaraj Prashala to learn the English subject. Many students have established their careers under his guidance and never miss the opportunity to express their gratitude whenever they meet him.
He has generously provided bicycles to needy students and organized social awareness programs, social activities, and donations for cultural and religious events. Being interested in sports and games, he served as the president of the cricket club and conducted numerous cricket tournaments in rural areas. With proficiency in Marathi and English, he is an eloquent orator and delivers speeches in both school and public forums. He is not only a commend- able teacher but also an effective administrator, adherent to strict discipline, socially active, hardworking, and with a helpful nature.
