Shikhar Yuva Manch (SYM) is a professionally managed organization founded in 1997 with the primary aim of addressing issues related to local governance and the empowerment of marginalized communities. What began as an initiative by a group of passionate and committed young individuals has grown into a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) with a significant impact on grassroots communities. Over the years, SYM has focused on holistic development, working directly with those in need to foster sustainable change.

The organization prides itself on adopting a hands-on, people-centric approach. As SYM celebrated its 25th year of service in 2022-23, the organization’s journey was marked by significant milestones. Starting with a modest community development project in Bitkuli Village, Bilaspur District, Chhattisgarh, SYM began with just three dedicated individuals, including its founder. Today, the organization stands as a beacon of hope, having implemented 30 impactful projects across 10 districts. These efforts have positively affected the lives of approximately 175,000 families, a testament to the organization’s unwavering commitment to social change.

The success of SYM’s initiatives has been made possible through the collective action and unwavering support of numerous partners and stakeholders. The organization extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India, state governments, international government departments, foundations, organizations, private companies contributing through CSR initiatives, and individual supporters. The collaboration with these entities has been instrumental in driving positive change and transforming the lives of countless individuals and communities.

One of SYM’s core areas of focus has been education. The organization firmly believes that education is a powerful tool for empowerment and a key to unlocking a better future for individuals and society as a whole. SYM’s efforts have been dedicated to reintegrating out-of-school children into the educational fold and preventing in-school children, especially girls, from dropping out. By securing equal opportunities for all, SYM aims to create a more inclusive and just society.
