G. Ramesh Kumar brings 18 years of dedicated experience to his role as Principal at the Melvin Institute of Science and Management. His extensive knowledge encompasses all facets of tourism and hospitality management, including Tourism Planning, Eco Tourism, Accommodation Operation, and Front Office Management. His innovative teaching methods create a stimulating learning environment that ignites students’ curiosity and promotes critical thinking. Additionally, his strong relationships with industry leaders provide students with valuable internship and networking opportunities, further enhancing their educational experience. He holds an M.Phil. in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamaraj University College, Madurai, an M.A. in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamaraj University Directorate of Distance Education, a Bachelor of Tourism & Hotel Management from M.K.U Evening College, Madurai, and a Certificate Course in Food Production from Subbalakshmi Lakshmipathy College of Science, Madurai. Since April 201 he has served as Principal at the Melvin Institute of Science and Management in Ramanathapuram. His responsibilities include setting the vision and direction for the institution, curriculum development and quality assurance, faculty development, budget management, staff supervision, and policy development and implementation.
From July 2017 to March 2019, he was an Assistant Professor at Annai Fathima College of Arts and Science in Tirumangalam, Madurai. In this role, he developed and delivered curriculum for the Bachelor’s in Tourism and Hospitality Management, utilized diverse teaching methods to enhance student engagement, guided and mentored students in academic and professional development, and organized workshops, guest lectures, and field trips. Previously, from July 2013 to May 2017, he was an Assistant Lecturer at SRM Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology in Trichy. He delivered lectures on Tourism Management, Front Office, and Housekeeping, monitored student academic performance, coordinated student activities, and contributed to staff development initiatives.
Before these academic roles, he held various positions in the hospitality industry from 2006 to 2013, gaining extensive knowledge of hotel operations and management. During this period, he actively participated in industry events and conferences, further broadening his expertise. He is the author of the textbook “Axioms of Accommodation Operation” (ISBN: 978-93-88398-18-3) and has two more books in the pipeline. He has published seven research articles in national and international journals on various topics related to tourism and hospitality. Additionally, he has presented 22 research papers at national and international conferences on topics such as tourism development, sustainability, and hospitality management.

He has participated in numerous workshops and faculty development programs to enhance his teaching skills and stay updated on industry trends. He has conducted seminars on tourism for students, organized tourism exhibitions at various institutions, and served as an editorial assistant and editor for conference proceedings, departmental newsletters, and magazines. He has also been a chairman for question paper setting committees at Pondicherry University and Periyar University. His comprehensive experience and dedication to education make him a pivotal figure in the academic and professional development of students at the Melvin Institute of Science and Management.
