Dr. Madhu B. K.: Pioneering Leadership and Excellence in Computer Science and Engineering at VVIET
Dr. Madhu B. K. serves as the Professor and Dean of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology (VVIET), Mysuru. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and contributes as a Guest Faculty for the Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP) at BITS-Pilani. His professional career spans across academia, industry, and research, with a notable focus on Agile Software Testing.
His academic credentials include an M.Tech and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering, with his research centered on Agile Software Testing methodologies. His extensive experience in the software industry includes roles as a Part-time Corporate Trainer for twelve years at major corporations such as Infosys Technologies, Wipro Technologies, Tech Mahindra, and HCL Ltd. He also held positions as a full-time Software Engineer and Team Lead at Salvation Software Services Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, and Infosys Technologies, where he earned the “Managerial Excellence Award” for his exceptional contributions in maintaining CMMI Level 5, achieving high customer satisfaction, and demonstrating technical competence.
In the academic sphere, he has served in various capacities from Lecturer to Professor over an eighteen-year tenure at institutions including Acharya Institute of Technology, M S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, and as a Visiting Professor at KLE Institutions, Bangalore. His leadership was instrumental in establishing the Center of Excellence (CoE) for ST & TA funded by VGST, GoK, and in organizing numerous state and national level conferences and workshops supported by the Government of Karnataka and VTU. He has been a member of the Board of Examiners for M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in Computer Science at Jain University and has guided several M.Tech students at VTU, BITS-Pilani, and IGNOU. Dr. Madhu has been active in forging Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) between academic institutions and industry, setting up laboratories, and enhancing educational services.
His research interests are prominently focused on Agile Methodologies and Software Testing. He has published over forty research papers in IEEE and other reputed journals and serves as an editorial member and reviewer for various international journals. He is affiliated with multiple professional bodies, including ACM-USA, IAENG-Hong Kong, IACSIT-Singapore, CSTA-USA, ISTE-India, and CSI-India. He has chaired IEEE International Conferences and has had the opportunity to visit countries such as Singapore and Malaysia to explore emerging technologies.
His contributions have been recognized with several awards and honors. He played a key role in achieving NBA accreditation and reaccreditation for his department. His mentorship has led to the successful completion of Ph.D. programs for students funded by various international and national bodies. He has also been acknowledged as Best Mentor and for his managerial excellence. His involvement in IEEE includes serving as the Treasurer and an active member of the IEEE Information Theory Society (ITS) Bangalore Chapter.
In addition to his academic and research pursuits, He is engaged in various administrative and professional roles, including advisory positions, organizing events, and mentoring students. His commitment to enhancing educational practices and advancing research in software engineering continues to make a significant impact in his field.
