Dr. Jumisree Sarmah Pathak, a distinguished academician, serves as an Assistant Professor in Physics at the Indian Institute of Teacher Education (IITE) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, since 2013. She plays a pivotal role in shaping the future educators at this state university established under the Government of Gujarat’s auspices.

Hailing from the scenic state of Assam, Dr. Pathak holds a Doctorate degree in Physics from Gauhati University, complemented by three Master’s degrees: in Science (Physics) from Dibrugarh University, in Arts (Education) from IITE Gujarat, and in Business Administration (MBA-HR) from Sikkim Manipal University. Her academic journey spans over a decade, during which she also taught Physics and Management to undergraduate Engineering students at Hansaba Engineering College and Technology under Gujarat Technological University from 2011 to 2013.

Her  scholarly achievements extend beyond teaching. She is actively involved in research projects funded by the government, contributing extensively to prestigious international journals with research papers and book chapters. Her academic prowess is underscored by qualifications such as UGC-NET and GSET certifications. She has been invited to deliver lectures at numerous national and international conferences and has conducted research visits to institutions abroad, including University of Latvia, Oulu University of Finland, Pohang University of Science and Technology (South Korea), and institutions in Dubai.

Recently, she  was honored with the “Ek Nari – 100 Pe Bhari” award by Global Empire Events and BiznationTV for her outstanding contribution to student development in the academic year 2023-24. She has also played a crucial role in overseeing the national and international placement processes at IITE as the Head of the Placement Department, facilitating placements of students in prestigious schools across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, and Bahrain, as well as in government positions within Gujarat.

Recognizing the importance of holistic education, she has spearheaded the Skill Department at IITE, introducing diverse skill courses ranging from Music, Dance, and Drama to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. These courses not only enhance students’ professional growth but also equip them with skills essential for standing out in their careers.

Known for her innovative and student-centric teaching methodologies, Dr. Pathak advocates for inquiry-based learning that fosters creative and critical thinking among students. She has developed e-content for the courses she teaches, integrating progressive methods of assessment and evaluation to ensure continuous learning. Her commitment to student welfare is further evidenced by her active involvement in the university’s anti-sexual harassment cell and Women’s cell, where she has organized awareness programs on women’s issues, self-defense workshops, cyber security, women’s health, psychological counseling, and nutrition.

Beyond academia, she  is a trained classical singer with a Sangeet Visharad degree in Vocal from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow. She also guides the co-curricular activities at IITE, leading the university team to victory in various National-level events like Youth Festivals.

Currently, she  is engaged in writing several books covering diverse subjects such as Physics textbooks, Indian Knowledge System, National Education Policy 2020, and Forensic Physics, reflecting her multidimensional expertise and passion for education and research. Her journey is a testament to her dedication, resilience, and profound impact on academia and student welfare alike.
