Dr. Brajadulal Chakrabarti stands as a distinguished example of lifelong learning, resilience, and service, emerging from humble beginnings to build a multifaceted career spanning engineering, education, administration, entrepreneurship, research, and literature. Born into a financially modest yet deeply scholastic family, his early life was shaped by strong moral values, intellectual discipline, and an unwavering commitment to self-improvement through education.
He was profoundly influenced by his father, Pandit S. M. Chakrabarti, a celebrated teacher and scholar who received the National Award for Teachers from the then President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, in 1965. His mother, Nirupama Devi, was a dignified and compassionate matriarch who raised eight children with care, integrity, and emotional strength. This nurturing environment instilled in him a deep respect for knowledge, ethics, and perseverance.
Despite persistent financial constraints, he worked relentlessly to secure his academic qualifications—often studying late into the night after long working hours and, at times, leaving employment to pursue higher education. His dedication to learning remained unwavering throughout his life. His academic journey is marked by an extraordinary breadth of qualifications, including I.Sc., DME, and DTT, followed by postgraduate degrees such as an M.A. in Sociology and three M.Sc. degrees in disciplines related to values in education and spirituality, counselling and healthcare, and yoga-based lifestyle remodelling. He further strengthened his academic foundation with an MBA, an M.Phil., and ultimately a PhD in Management. This extensive academic portfolio reflects not only intellectual curiosity but also exceptional discipline and resilience.
Complementing his formal education, he underwent a wide range of professional training programmes, many sponsored by government and national institutions. These included disciplinary training with the NCC, engineering training under Indian Railways, service training with the Damodar Valley Corporation, and advanced technical training in materials technology, air conditioning, and refrigeration. He also received industrial exposure at major organisations such as Durgapur Steel Plant, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, National Test House, and Hindustan Motors. Further specialised training covered district development planning, technology transfer, entrepreneurship development, quality management systems auditing, investment promotion, sustainable development, nutrition science, and computer applications—equipping him with a rare blend of technical, administrative, and developmental expertise.
His professional career began with M. N. Dastur & Co. (P) Ltd., a multinational consulting engineering firm, followed by Veegal Engines & Engineering Ltd. He later contributed significantly to engineering education as a teaching professional at Tripura Polytechnic Institute and Tripura Engineering College. A major phase of his career unfolded within the Directorate of Industries under the Department of Industries and Commerce, where he played a pivotal role in promoting small and medium enterprises, artisan training, and entrepreneurial development. His efficiency and integrity led to his promotion as General Manager, with additional responsibilities in establishment and administration, before retiring in February 2002.
Even after retirement, he remained professionally active, completing further postgraduate studies and later overseeing advanced manufacturing operations for the SPACETECH Group of Companies until the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
In recent years, he has devoted himself to writing and research. He has authored multiple books, including Panditmashay, Anjali, Jiban Prabaha, and Glimpse of Joy under the Canopy of Divine Light, the latter receiving the International Authors Excellence Award 2025. He continues active research in Yogic Science, with papers published in academic journals.
Guided by a holistic vision of human well-being, he practices yoga daily, engages in spiritual reflection, and advocates sustainable development and human harmony. His life represents a rare synthesis of intellect, service, and spirituality—offering enduring inspiration across generations.
