Dr. Bijender Mishra: Driving Global Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity Leadership
Dr. Bijender Mishra has established himself as one of India’s foremost technology leaders, with over 24 years of distinguished experience in digital transformation, enterprise IT governance, and global cybersecurity strategy. Currently serving as Group Senior General Manager (IT) and Global Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Alkem Laboratories Limited, he plays a pivotal role in shaping secure, scalable, and future-ready technology ecosystems for one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical organisations.
Since assuming this role in July 2020, he has been responsible for overseeing the entire IT and information security landscape across 23 manufacturing plants, 45 offices, and the corporate headquarters. Reporting directly to the board, he manages a highly complex environment that includes Tier-4 data centres, a central Security Operations Centre (SOC), OT/IoT security infrastructure, and more than 110 critical enterprise applications, including SAP and Oracle platforms. His leadership has enabled strong cyber resilience while accelerating digital innovation in a highly regulated industry.
A forward-looking and results-driven executive, he brings deep expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, blockchain technologies, cloud computing, and industrial cybersecurity. His approach focuses on aligning technology investments with business outcomes, delivering real-time analytics, operational visibility, and secure, paperless digital workplaces. Under his guidance, multiple large-scale initiatives have been successfully delivered, including SAP S/4HANA database migration, advanced disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks, robotics process automation for drug discovery, and enterprise-grade data centre colocation projects.
Before joining Alkem Laboratories, he served as Acting CIO and CISO at Delight Group, operating across Hong Kong and India. The group’s diverse portfolio—spanning pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, port operations, oil and gas, hospitality, real estate, and trading—required him to manage IT operations, ERP platforms, technology risk, and cybersecurity across multiple geographies in Asia and Africa.
Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles as IT Head and Chief Information Security Officer at Kenana Group in Khartoum, Sudan, and as IT Head at Punjas & Sons. He also served with the Royal Court Affairs (Dewan – The Palace) of His Majesty Sultan Bin Qaboos in Muscat, Oman, managing secure and mission-critical IT operations for royal departments. His professional journey began at Havells India Ltd., where he progressed from Systems Engineer to IT Manager.
Academically, he holds a PhD in Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity, an MBA in Information Technology, and a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. He has further strengthened his global perspective through advanced executive education, including a cybersecurity risk management programme from Harvard University. A strong advocate of digital awareness, he is also the author of two books—Digital Mind SET? and Cybersecurity: Be Aware! Connect with Care!—focused on responsible technology adoption and cyber preparedness.
His professional credentials include globally recognised certifications such as CISM, CRISC, EC-Council’s C|CISO, CISSP training, TOGAF, ITIL, PRINCE2, SAP security architecture, and multiple Microsoft Azure and cloud certifications. These qualifications reinforce his reputation as a trusted authority in governance, risk, and compliance.
Over the years, his contributions have been recognised with numerous honours, including CISO of the Year, Most Innovative CIO, Cyber Sentinel Award, and Digital Technology Enabler for Pharma & Health Sciences. Known for his visionary leadership and ability to build high-performing teams, he continues to shape the future of secure digital enterprises—driving innovation while safeguarding trust, resilience, and operational excellence on a global scale.
