Chandra, born on November 3rd in Tanjung Pura, North Sumatra, Indonesia, to Mr. Lukman and Mrs. Ailinna, has devoted his career to education since 1999. His journey began as a Buddhist Sunday School teacher at Vihara MandalapuraMaitreya, where he also offered free English courses to primary school students until 2004. Combining his passion for teaching with an educational background in Industrial Engineering, Chandra embarked on his formal teaching career in 2004 during his final year of college.

Initially teaching Buddhist Education and Physics at multiple high schools, including SMA Negeri 1 Babalan and SMA Swasta Dharma Patra PangkalanBerandan, Chandra later focused his efforts at SMA Swasta Samanhudi Tanjung Pura due to logistical reasons. His dedication and innovative approach caught the attention of school administrators, leading to his appointment as Junior High School Principal

During his tenure as principal, he  implemented significant improvements in school infrastructure, educational quality, and public trust. His leadership was instrumental in achieving the highest National Examination Average Score in Langkat Regency and attracting a growing number of new students. In recognition of his achievements, Chandra was honored as the outstanding Junior High School Principal in Langkat Regency in 2016 and later as the outstanding Senior High School Principal in North Sumatra Province in 2017.

In 2018, Chandra undertook a new challenge as the pioneer Principal of SMP and SMA Maitreyawira Deli Serdang, where he swiftly established the institution as a leading educational center known for its impactful programs. Beyond his administrative roles, he  actively participates in professional teacher organizations such as Ikatan Guru Indonesia (IGI) and Perkumpulan Guru Agama Buddha Indonesia (PERGABI). During the Covid-19 pandemic, he provided crucial training to educators nationwide on effective distance learning strategies.

Under his  leadership, Maitreyawira School continued to excel despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, achieving remarkable success at both national and international levels. His commitment to differentiated instruction and positive discipline earned him recognition as the Inspirational Senior High School Principal by the Ministry of Education, Research, Culture, and Technology.

His  innovative initiatives, including school digitalization, character development programs, and literacy and numeracy enhancement projects, propelled SMA Swasta Maitreyawira Deli Serdang to receive an Excellent Education Report from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, placing it in the top 10% nationally. These achievements culminated in Chandra being awarded the High School Principal of the Year at the Asian Education Awards 2023 and continuing success in 2024 with improved educational indicators.

Throughout his career, he  remains a dedicated lifelong learner, committed to ongoing personal and professional development to further enhance his contributions to education. His unwavering passion for teaching and leadership continues to inspire educators and students alike, shaping the future of education in Indonesia.
