WG CDR (DR) RAKESH KUMAR PRASHAR is a retired defence services officer with more than two decades of service in the Indian Air Force and over 26 years of corporate experience in safety leadership. An ISO 45001 Certified Lead Auditor, internationally certified corporate trainer and motivational speaker, he has dedicated his professional journey to strengthening workplace safety, developing leadership capabilities and promoting a positive safety culture across organisations and communities.

With extensive expertise in occupational safety, he has conducted more than 3,000 safety training programmes in India and abroad for reputed organisations and corporates, including the National Safety Council, State Safety Councils, Regional Labour Institute, Konkan Railways, NHPC, NTPC, DMRC, Chennai Metro, ITC Group companies, Adani Group companies, Tata Projects, Aditya Birla Group, Thales, Amazon, Voltas, The Times of India, ReSustainability Ltd. and Sterlite Power, among others.

His flagship programmes cover Behaviour-Based Safety, Safety Leadership, Safety Motivation, Road Safety and Attitude-Based Safety. The latter is a concept developed by him to address the behavioural and psychological dimensions of workplace safety. His approach focuses on encouraging individuals to recognise their personal responsibility for safe conduct and develop a proactive safety mindset.

His contribution extends to soft-skills development, where he has conducted more than 500 training programmes for corporates, educational institutions, schools, colleges and NGOs, including organisations associated with the National Skill Development Corporation. His second book, Safety Leadership – Shaping Business Excellence, released in 2024, explores how leaders can create organisational cultures in which safety becomes an integral driver of business excellence. His professional contributions have earned several recognitions, including an Honorary Doctorate from Chicago Open University in February 2025 for his work in Attitude-Based Safety, the Trainer’s Excellence Award for Safety Leadership Training, the Safety Professional Excellence Award at the World Environment Summit 2020, and the Best Trainer Award from ISTD in 2013. He also received Silver Trophies for Best Corporate Safety Performance from the Gujarat Safety Council in 2010 and 2011, along with a commendation from the Chief of the Air Staff in 1999.
