DLF CARES, the social impact initiative of the DLF Foundation, has emerged as a comprehensive educational support programme focused on creating equitable opportunities for academically bright students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Established in 2011, the initiative is built on the belief that access to quality education is fundamental to creating an inclusive and prosperous society. Over the years, it has evolved beyond financial assistance to address academic, emotional, technological, and career-related needs.
At the heart of DLF CARES is its scholarship programme for students from Classes 1 to 12. The initiative provides financial support while also addressing several barriers that can affect educational continuity. School supplies, remedial classes, mentorship programmes, skill-development workshops, and supplementary digital learning are integrated into the programme to help students remain engaged and progress academically. By addressing learning gaps and challenges such as limited access to tuition and emotional instability, the initiative seeks to reduce dropout risks and strengthen educational outcomes.
Its support extends beyond school education through the Beyond School initiative, which assists meritorious students pursuing higher education in fields ranging from engineering and medicine to arts and vocational disciplines. Students receive guidance for entrance examinations, college admissions, career planning, and skill development. This broader approach enables beneficiaries to make informed educational choices while preparing them for employment and professional opportunities.
Recognizing that academic achievement is closely connected with emotional well-being and informed decision-making, DLF CARES also incorporates career counselling and psychological support. Students in senior classes undergo psychometric assessments and counselling designed to help them understand their interests, strengths, and potential career pathways. Such interventions provide young learners with greater clarity while helping them approach important educational decisions with confidence.
Technology has become another important component of the programme. In collaboration with organizations such as the Lotus Petal Foundation, DLF CARES introduced Vidya Sahyog, an interactive e-learning platform offering learning support in English, Mathematics, and Life Skills. The platform provides customized digital content, live learning sessions, and access to tutors across states. Teacher and parent training further strengthens the ecosystem, reinforcing the role of families and educators in supporting students’ educational journeys.
The programme’s scale demonstrates its expanding reach. As of 2024, more than 5,200 students across 22 states had benefited directly from DLF CARES, while over 40,000 counselling sessions had been conducted. The initiative had reached more than 20,000 families and contributed to the training of over 10,000 teachers. More than 1,400 new students are added annually, reflecting the programme’s continued expansion. Its efforts received national recognition with the CSR Initiative of the Year award in 2024.
DLF CARES operates under the leadership of Dr. Ameeta Mulla Wattal, Chairperson and Executive Director of DLF Schools and Scholarships. Her educational vision has shaped the programme’s emphasis on inclusion, skills development, emotional intelligence, and character building alongside academic learning.
