Mr. Vijaysingh Pardeshi: A Legacy of Excellence in Education and Social Service
Mr. Vijaysingh Jagannathsingh Pardeshi, born on May 20, 1950, in Madras (Chennai), is a retired educator whose distinguished career spans 38 years. He completed his B.Sc. from Pune University and his B.Ed. from Bombay University. Residing at 4/703, Indraprastha, Behind Andhra Bank, Nr. Gaikar Pada Bus Stop, Adharwadi Circle, Kalyan West, Dist. Thane, Maharashtra 421301, Mr. Pardeshi retired from his position as an Assistant Teacher at S.H. Jondhale Vidya Mandir, Dombivli West, on May 31, 2008.
Throughout his career he was dedicated to improving educational standards and fostering social responsibility. He provided free extra coaching in mathematics to students before school hours for seven years, significantly enhancing student performance and achieving a 100% pass rate in the S.S.C. Board Exams. His contributions were recognized by the school authorities with a felicitation. Additionally, he prepared 9th-grade students for the Dr. Homi Bhabha Bal Vaidnyanik Competition without any fees, leading to a Silver Medal for Master Khanvekar in 1994-95.
In 1996, Mr. Pardeshi, along with colleagues Mr. Pitake and Mr. Suryavanshi, founded the Bal Kavi Mandal and organized the Bal Kavi Sammelan at the school, which continued until his retirement. He also established the Mathematics Association with local math teachers, improving mathematics results in the region through collective efforts and support from headmasters and principals.
His dedication to social service was evident through various initiatives. He conducted family and environmental surveys, spearheaded an annual tree plantation drive, and introduced a year-long program of mathematics puzzles to engage students more deeply with the subject. His efforts in coaching talented students, alongside English and social science teachers, resulted in two students achieving merit in the S.S.C. Board Exam in 1993-94.
In terms of societal contributions, he undertook several impactful projects. Following the 1993 Bombay serial bomb blasts, he organized an exhibition of student drawings to raise awareness and promote national integrity, attracting over 25,000 visitors. He was honored by Maharashtra State Research and Training Institute Pune for this project. Additionally, he adopted a poor girl student annually under the Savitribai Phule Dattak Palak Scheme, providing financial support for her education.
His humanitarian efforts extended to drama for leprosy awareness, relief contributions for the Latur earthquake, and support for various charitable causes, including donations to Kisak Kadam Help Nidhi and Suganda Atmaram Shinde’s heart valve operation fund. His exhibition to celebrate the centenary of Subhash Chandra Bose, visited by Minister Nitin Gadkari, highlighted his commitment to historical and cultural education.
Beyond his teaching career, he wrote and directed dramas on significant historical and social themes and conducted research in mathematics that earned state and district-level recognition. He actively participated in educational camps and workshops, serving as a resource person for initiatives conducted by Seva Sadan College of Education and Maharashtra State Teachers’ Parishad.
In his union work, he served as Assistant Secretary of The Thane District Mathematics Association and Secretary of the East Thane Teachers Association, contributing to teacher welfare and educational practices. His dedication has been acknowledged through numerous awards and recognitions, including certificates from Inner Wheel Club and felicitations from community leaders and educational organizations. Awareness among people for “Organ and Body donation-A National campaign” is to be added since 2008 on personal level later I joined Giant’s welfare foundation and The Federation of organ and body donation Mumbai and Rashtriy Dehangdan Samiti and doing awareness work whole heartedly and continue to work till the death.
He expresses gratitude to all who supported his work throughout his career, including school management, government officials, educational institutions, and his family. He remains engaged in educational and social causes and is documenting his post-retirement contributions, including his efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
